The purpose of this first session is to set out the historical and theoretical foundations of governance, from its origin until the present, and to understand the role of governance in society today.

This introductory session will also allow us to define the objectives of the following sessions, and in particular to ask ourselves what territorial governance will look like in the 21st century and what role it will play in global transition issues.
